Two suspicious smoky vegetation fires slowed traffic this morning on the I-210 Foothill freeway shortly before 7:00 a.m., Pasadena Fire Department spokesperson Lisa Derderian reported.
One fire was reported at 6:35 a.m. near the freeway at Altadena Drive and the second in a palm tree near Allen Avenue at 6:44 p.m., Fire Dept. records show.
A water tender has reportedly been requested to assist units on scene.
With nearby homeless encampments and the unlikely probability of two nearly simultaneous vegetation fires erupting so close to each other, the circumstances are considered suspicious, Derderian said.
An arson investigator has been called to the scenes, she said.
