The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority, the tri-city government agency created for the purpose of operating the Hollywood Burbank Airport, has voted to approve its $82.2 million budget for fiscal year 2019, which begins on July 1.

Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek is currently President of the airport authority, and two other Pasadena representatives sit on the nine-person board: City Councilmember Steve Madison and former Pasadena City College trustee Dr. Ross Selvidge.

Madison was not present during the vote Monday.

The new budget is about $4.5 million more than fiscal year 2017-2018’s budget, a summary posted with the board’s Monday agenda showed.

The budget assumed a 5% hike in passenger activity during the next fiscal year.

Over $46 million of the budget will go to operations and maintenance expenses, and about $22.4 million will go to facility improvement projects, the summary showed.

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority was created in 1977 under a joint powers agreement among the cities of Pasadena, Burbank and Glendale in order to operate the airport. Its mission is to provide state-of-the-art regional airport facilities and related services which are efficient, safe, convenient, and user-friendly.
