A trio of burglars forced their way into a Pasadena home late Thursday as two senior citizens hid upstairs and called police, officials said.

Pasadena police Lt. Max Dahlstein said it unfolded shortly after 9 p.m. at a three-level home in the area of Glen Oaks Boulevard and Linda Vista Drive, in a neighborhood just south of the Rose Bowl.

A married couple in their 70s was inside their home when the trio of intruders smashed a rear window and climbed in, according to the lieutenant.

The couple hid in the top floor of the home and called 911 as the suspects made their way up to the second level of the home.

Police said the burglars had already fled when officers arrived. It was not yet clear if anything had been stolen from the home.

Investigators were reviewing surveillance camera footage Thursday night, Dahlstein said. But a detailed description of the burglars was not available. All three wore hooded sweatshirts with the hoods pulled over their heads and gloves.

Anyone with information can reach Pasadena police at (626) 744-4241. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
