The California Art Club’s primary purposes are to promote the fine arts in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpture referred to as traditional and representational art, with a special emphasis placed on the academic traditions and craftsmanship established by the founders of the corporation; to produce and promote art exhibits that foster understanding and interpretation of the traditional art heritage; and to furnish educational opportunities in the fine arts.

In rotating ten-week exhibitions, the California Art Club and Marston’s Restaurant proudly present the work of California Art Club Members, artists working in traditional fine art. Immerse yourself into the unique world of California painting and enjoy the delicious cuisine at this famed Pasadena dining institution. [Please R.S.V.P. to Marston’s for the reception: 626/796-2459]

Visions of the San Gabriels

As the California Art Club continues its Centennial celebration, it also marks the 10th anniversary of the opening of the  California Art Club Gallery at The Old Mill.   To pay tribute to the gallery’s first decade, the Club will present the juried exhibition Visions of the San Gabriels, which shares the same title as the organization’s first display at this venue.

Featured paintings will include images of the mountain range that lies between the Greater Los Angeles area and the Mojave Desert and life in communities at its base.

The upcoming Visions of the San Gabriels exhibition will spotlight three of the four nationally renowned artists who participated in the first exhibit – Peter Adams, W. Jason Situ and Tim Solliday – as well as David Damm, Karl Dempwolf, Sharon Burkett-Kaiser, Joseph Mendez, Victor Riesau, Junn Roca and Jove Wang. They are all Signature Artists Members, the most esteemed category of membership for artists. On exhibit January 5 – May 2, 2010.
