The California Art Club celebrates how nature marks the arrival of springtime with the exhibition Signs of Spring: A Day in the Garden, on view at the California Art Club Gallery at The Old Mill from January 16 to May 20, 2018.

A reception with the participating artists will be held on Thursday, January 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The exhibition will showcase a range of paintings that capture the blooming of colorful flowers and budding of leaves that transform the landscape when winter transitions to spring. The more than 40 works will transport the viewer to a variety of exquisite settings, from intimate backyard gardens and hiking paths dotted with wildflowers to beautifully manicured grounds of local landmarks and spectacular expanses of the desert.

“As Spring is probably the most anticipated season of the year – with nature bursting back to life – the California Art Club is delighted to present Signs of Spring at its gallery at the historic Old Mill,” says Bethany Lamonde, exhibitions coordinator for the century-old fine arts organization. “This theme is particularly well suited for our gallery, since it is surrounded by the Old Mill’s tranquil garden of native plants and is in close proximity to many botanical gardens and nature reserves,” adds Lamonde.

The participating artists in the exhibition are juried members of the California Art Club and include Peter Adams, Robert Akers, Jannene Behl, Nanette Biers, John Budicin, Larry Cannon, Lorenzo Chavez, David Damm, Karl Dempwolf, Andrew Dickson, Linda DuPas, Esther Engelman, Mark Farina, Andrea Gaye, Brenda Gibson, Dora Giordano, Diana Hecht, Laurie Hendricks, Carolyn Hesse-Low, Debra Holladay, David Jenks, Chuck Kovacic, Paul Kratter, Frank Lennartz, Calvin Liang, Simon Lok, Carolyn Lord, Elaine Mathews, Patricia McGeeney, Lisa Mozzini-McDill, Michael Obermeyer, Robin Purcell, April Raber, Ron Rencher, Rodolfo Rivademar, Junn Roca, Liliana Simanton, W. Jason Situ and Karen Winters.

All of the paintings are available for acquisition. Gallery hours are 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, except holidays. There is no admission charge. After the opening of the exhibition at the Old Mill, which is located at 1120 Old Mill Road in San Marino, the artwork may be viewed online at
