Four returning audience favorites and eight new actors join Unbound Productions for the 10th Annual Wicked Lit Production, “Wicked Lit: The Chimes and the Corpse,” at the Mountain View Mausoleum in Altadena.
Unbound Productions Executive Director Jonathan Josephson and Artistic Director Paul Millet have announced the details for the immersive theatre event, where timeless literary stories are reimagined and adapted to a special brand of theater that’s unique to Wicked Lit.
Wicked Lit is a walking show where audiences are led through the mausoleum as they follow the story – patrons are advised to be ready to comfortably walk about a minimum of 1,000 steps and to climb stairs in order to fully experience the production.
“Wicked Lit: The Chimes and the Corpse” will feature “The Chimes: A Goblin Story” by Jonathan Josephson, adapted from the novella of the same name by Charles Dickens, and directed by Darin Anthony; and the world premiere of “Teig O’Kane and the Corpse” by Kerry Kazmierowicztrimm, adapted from the short story by Ernest Rhys and translated by Dr. Douglas Hyde, directed by Paul Millet.
“The Chimes: A Goblin Story” tells the story of a conflicted father and the goblins that bring him to the brink of death and back again.
“Teig O’Kane and the Corpse” tells of a brazen young Irishman who refuses to commit to adulthood and finds himself magically bound to an animated corpse.
The cast for “The Chimes” includes (in order of appearance) Meghan Lewis (StoryGuide/Swing), Aaron McGee (StoryGuide/Swing), Richard Large (as Toby Veck), Hope Lauren (Meg Veck), Daniel Dorr (Richard Wells), Christopher Wallinger (Danzos), Lamont Webb (Glolobassi) and Tessie Barresi (Alternate Meg).
For “Tieg O’Kane,” the cast includes (in order of appearance) Kelly Pierre (as Mary), Flynn Platt (Teig O’Kane), Kevin Dulude (The Corpse), and Bridgette Campbell (Linda/The Widow).
Lewis, McGee, Large and Dulude are returning actors to Unbound Productions. The other eight are new actors.
Wicked Lit this year runs from October 4 through November 10, with a number of exciting new changes, according to the Unbound Productions announcement.
There will be two curtain times, at 7:30 and at 9:00 p.m., total run time will be 75 minutes, tickets will be at a lower price than last year’s, group sizes will be smaller, the entire performance and lobby will be indoors, and there will be no pre-show performances, although there will be an interactive “museum” exhibit featuring past Wicked Lit costumes, puppets, and photo opportunities.
Tickets for shows until October 21, at $40 each, are now on sale. Those for October 24 onward will be on sale soon on the Unbound Productions website, www.unboundproductions.org. Details will also be announced on Facebook @WickedLit, Instagram @UnboundProductions, and Twitter @UnboundProdLA.
