A Wednesday evening apartment fire erupted in a three-story apartment building in the 100 block of South El Molino Ave., authorities said.

Pasadena Fire Department units responded to a 7:17 p.m. call to encounter light smoke coming from an apartment on the first floor.

Residents were fleeing the building as firefighters arrived. There were no reported injuries.

Pasadena Fire Department spokesperson Lisa Derderian said that the residents of the apartment unit which suffered the fire were not at home at the time.

No residents were displaced by the fire, a police source said.

Although authorities determined the damage was limited to $20,000 to the structure and $10,000 to contents, no cause for the fire has been determined and it remains under investigation.
