A toe-tappin’ time of inspirational worship is promised by the La Canada Presbyterian Church as it presents Bluegrass Gospel Sunday, featuring Boggs, Brock & Pratt and their seven-piece band, on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 7:55, 9:25 and 11:00 a.m. services.
LCPC returns to its regular worship schedule with the rollicking, yet reverent, music. Andrew Pratt, who leads LCPC’s contemporary worship music, is keenly familiar with bluegrass, having grown up in eastern Oklahoma and having sung country music from a young age. Judy Brock, who directs the church’s children’s and youth choirs, and her twin sister, Janet Boggs, gained national fame as entertainers of children and have recorded nine albums liberally flavored with bluegrass and country styles.
The spiritually inspiring songs and joyful harmonies will be backed by guitar (Pratt and Brock), mandolin (Boggs), banjo, fiddle, dobro, harmonica and other instruments.
On this Sunday, LCPC’s interim pastor, the Rev. Dr. Gareth Icenogle, will continue his fall preaching series, “Leaving the Old Life with a New Leader,” derived from Exodus 1.
