Children and parents alike were delighted Friday night at a special music-filled, family-oriented celebration on the steps of City Hall.

The Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting Celebration brought hundreds out for the festivities, which included a visit by Santa Claus himself which enthralled local children.

Local singers and dancers, crafts for kids provided by the Armory Center for the Arts, free light refreshments and the crowd’s countdown before the lighting of City Hall’s magnificent tree highlighted the chilly evening.

The live entertainment throughout included a triumphant return performance from the thundering Wilson Middle School Drum Corps, plus, those adorable kids from the City’s Tiny Tots Troupe; the Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena, and from Pasadena’s Afterschool Adventures Program, too.

Also scheduled were Pasadena High School LEARNs Orchesis Dance Troop and Elements Dance Space to perform exciting dance routines.

And, of course, the evening just wouldn’t have been complete without favorite local emcees, that Dynamic Duo of retired police Lt. Rodney “Rodney D” Wallace and Sgt. Glen Thompson of the Pasadena Police Department.

The beautifully decorated tree will remain on display in the Rotunda of Pasadena City Hall at 100 North Garfield Avenue.
