A fire believed to have been caused by overloaded electrical wiring damaged a portion of a home located at 1884 N. Raymond Avenue and displaced four people on Christmas Day.

Pasadena Public Information Officer Lisa Derderian said neighbors first reported smoke coming from the single-story residence past 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Derderian said responding units discovered the fire coming from a room and extending up the attic. The fire was knocked down by 9:45 p.m., she said.

No one was injured as there was no one home at the time, but the house did sustain significant damage, Derderian said.

The Pasadena Fire Department assigned 23 personnel, three fire engines, two trucks and a rescue ambulance to the fire response.

The San Marino Fire Department also assisted in the response, and the Pasadena Police Department assisted in the investigation.

Damage to the home and contents was estimated to be around $25,000.
