Among the establishments that may soon be demolished pending the City’s review are 13 buildings on Orange Grove Circle, 172 residential units on Los Robles Ave., and the Macy’s building on Colorado Boulevard, according to the Planning and Community Development Department.

The City released a list of major construction projects involving 25 or more residential units and/or 25,000-square feet of nonresidential space, undergoing its review.

The latest project is the proposed demolition of 13 buildings with 64 residential units along Orange Grove Circle, to be replaced by a new 90-unit complex of two to three story buildings. The 5.75-acre project was submitted last December 24.

Also on the list of projects being reviewed is the demolition of 172 existing residential units along Los Robles Avenue to be replaced with a new six-story multifamily project with 432 residential units.

The rehabilitation of historic YWCA building along Marengo Avenue was also proposed, as well as the construction of a 180-room hotel with 7,200 square-foot meeting space and around 5,600-square feet of ballroom area.

More than a year since it was submitted in January 2013, the proposed rehabilitation of the 620,00 square-foot Parson Site on Walnut St. is still on review as it undergoes completion of the Draft Environmental Impact Report.

The Planning Department also took note of the recently closed application for the demolition of two Shriners Medical office buildings along Fair Oaks Ave., to pave way for the construction of a three-story 74,800 square-foot medical facility called Shriners Hospital for Children.

Two projects were currently on the Design Commission: the planned demolition of a 1983 recreation facility in Hillside Homes, Avenue 64; and the construction of a two-story classroom in Walden School, San Gabriel Boulevard.

The list of major projects would be distributed through the City Manager’s newsletter, said Vincent Bertoni, director of Planning and Community Development Department.
