Pasadena’s City Manager Steve Mermell today announced a new policy which prohibits animals, with the exception of service animals as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act, from being allowed within or permitted in many city buildings open to the public.

The City’s statement specifically said the restriction applies to:

  • Any neighborhood center;
  • Any community center;
  • The Central Library;
  • Any branch library;
  • City Council Chambers; or
  • Those portions of City Hall and the Hale Building designated for public meetings.

The statement said a sign notifying the public of this policy, similar to the example above, “shall be conspicuously posted on an entrance to the room or building, but this policy shall still have effect even if such signage is not present.”
