City Health Director Submits Resignation

[Updated May 14, 2014 | 5:45 p.m.] Dr. Eric Walsh today submitted his resignation to Pasadena City Manager Michael J. Beck. Dr. Walsh’s resignation as Director of the Pasadena Public Health Department and Health Officer is effective immediately.

“We appreciate Dr. Walsh’s service to the City of Pasadena and wish him continued success,” City Manager Beck said. “The City will now begin a nationwide search for a new director of the Public Health Department.

Beck met with Public Health Dept. employees Wednesday afternoon and read a statement from Dr. Walsh to Department staff.

Dr. Eric Walsh provided the following statement to City Manager Michael Beck to share with Public Health Department employees.

“Today I have officially resigned from my position as the director/health officer for the Pasadena Public Health Department,” Dr. Walsh’s statement said. “I want to apologize for any hurt or disruption that these past few weeks have caused. I am more than confident in each member of our teams ability to continue the progress and success we have had over the past 3.5 years. I am sure the department will only grow stronger, and more stable while continuing to provide quality services. My time with the department has been a highlight of my career. Thank you for your continued service to the community of Pasadena and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.”
