Teams from the Pasadena Department of Information Technology and Pasadena Water and Power were awarded a Los Angeles Excellence in Technology Award for an Outstanding IT Project during the recent LA Digital Government Summit held at the L.A. Hotel Downtown Tuesday and Wednesday, August 27 and 28.
Pasadena’s Chief lnformation Officer Phillip Leclair said the City was recognized for developing PWP’s online rebate portal, which allows customers to apply for rebates directly through the PWP website. The online tool replaced a paper-based process, improved the customer experience, and significantly reduced rebate processing time and administrative burden.
The LA Digital Government Summit was a two-day event sponsored by Government Technology Magazine that recognized state and local governments for their online presence and progress. The magazine is the flagship periodical of e.Republic Inc., a Folsom-based publishing company.
Specifically, the Los Angeles Excellence in Technology Awards, a highlight of the summit, honors outstanding achievements and recognizes innovative technology initiatives in the public sector.
PWP’s online rebate portal was originally launched in July 2017 and was further enhanced in August 2018 to incorporate electric vehicle rebates.
A PWP report said since the launch, more than 1,700 customers have applied for 2,611 efficiency rebates and more than 1,000 customers have applied for 802 rebates for an EV and/or EV charger.
“This achievement demonstrates the success of cross-departmental collaboration and the City of Pasadena’s commitment to continued improvement of City services,” the City Manager’s office said in a report to the Pasadena City Council.
