The Pasadena City Council’s Finance Committee will discuss amendments to the fiscal year 2017 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget when it meets Monday, March 27, right before the regular City Council meeting.

Members of the committee will also receive an update on the second quarter monitoring of CIP projects in the City.

As outlined by the Department of Public Works, the Finance Committee has to act on a recommendation to approve a journal voucher that will amend a total of 18 projects in the 2017 CIP budget and result in a net increase of $2,569,044 in the 2017 program.

The Finance Committee endorsement will forward the recommendation to the full City Council for action also on Monday.

A list of the budgetary changes prepared by Public Works shows some of the requested appropriations, including a recommendation for a $140,000 appropriation for building preventative maintenance in the Community Development Block Grant, which will be used to replace roofing on the Pasadena Senior Center.

Public Works also needs an appropriation of $240,000 in Residential Impact Fees-East to cover various projects at Hamilton Park including completing the perimeter pathway, activity striping, picnic area and parking lot improvements, and fence replacement.

The other listed changes are for corrections in the budget through appropriations and “unappropriations” that happen when funding for CIP projects have been used for other projects, or when funds were unused or are no longer needed.

Other major appropriatons included in the list are for $1,001,500 for Rose Bowl major improvement projects, including purchasing walk-through metal detectors, virtual gate camera monitors, and the relocation of the UCLA locker room from the East Locker Room to the West Locker Room; and a $500,000 appropriation for Fire Protection System Improvement projects including replacement of distribution mains, fire hydrants, and gate valves in the Pasadena Water and Power system.

Public Works personnel will also present a report to the Finance Committee to appraise them of the status of various CIP projects, as part of the second quarter monitoring report.

The Finance Committee meets at 4 p.m. at the Council Chamber Room S249 at the Pasadena City Hall.
