Pasadena Transit, the City of Pasadena’s local bus system, will be extending its operating hours on Saturday, July 14, to provide transportation to and from the Colorado Bridge Street Party, Pasadena’s most popular party of the year this year (because it only happens every other year).
The event brings an evening of music, dancing, rare vintage cars, free kids activities, and festive foods and beverages on top of one of the most beautiful bridges in the world.
The biennial party celebrates the successful campaign by the Pasadena community to save the bridge, which has been threatened numerous times in its 105-year history. Pasadena Heritage, which is organizing the event, has been leading a campaign for the preservation of the bridge for the last 41 years that eventually resulted in the City of Pasadena deciding to upgrade the bridge seismically and restore it to its original grandeur.
Pasadena Transit announced it will be running until 11:45 p.m. on Route 10 to serve people going to the Colorado Bridge Street Party and coming back.
The fare will be free after 5 p.m., according to the announcement.
Route 10 runs from the Allen Gold Line Station to Old Pasadena. People going to the Colorado Street Bridge Party can catch the Route 10 at Colorado Blvd. and Arroyo Parkway, if connecting from Metro Gold Line Memorial Park Station, or anywhere along Colorado Blvd., and get off at the intersection at Orange Grove Blvd.
Buses on Route 10 travel every 17 minutes this Saturday from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. The trip from Old Pasadena to the bridge takes about four minutes.
Pasadena Transit has also created a special web page with information on the event, including schedules and advice and where to get on and get off the bus to get to the party and return home.
