On Friday, December 15, ChapCare hosted its Annual Holiday Extravaganza, at two health centers in the San Gabriel Valley: its Lincoln health center in Pasadena, and its Peck health center in El Monte. At this year’s event, over 650 children and their families attended at the two locations. They were able to enjoy an afternoon filled with arts and crafts, music, holiday stories, tasty treats, toys (one for each child), and of course, a photo with Santa.

“We would like to thank our community partners for their contributions: Pasadena Community Foundation, which provided critical funding; California Pizza Kitchen and Paco’s Taco’s for the delicious food; Pasadena Public Library’s for hosting Holiday Story Time; and the WNBA LA Sparks Street Team, which featured their mascot Sparky the Dog.”

ChapCare is the leading safety-net provider in the areas it serves. The organization provides over 90% of the low-income medical visits in the City of Pasadena. The organization serves a primarily low-income patient population, with 60% being Latino, and many Spanish speaking. ChapCare has 3,529 children ages 0-17 in its medical practice, many of whom are low-income and underserved.

“ChapCare values its patients, and is always looking for ways to support their overall well-being,” said Margaret B. Martinez, MPH, ChapCare’s Chief Executive Officer. “ChapCare’s Holiday Extravaganza embodies the true spirit of Christmas with small businesses and community members donating what they can to enrich the lives of those patients who are less fortunate.”
