Services at Pasadena’s Department of Motor Vehicle office were at a snail’s pace Tuesday after a major outage hit the state DMV’s computers, disrupting work at many other offices in the Southland.
A California DMV announcement said the outage occurred Monday, October 24, impacting offices all over the state. As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, over 100 DMV offices statewide were still affected.
The announcement did not mention a time frame when the outage can be resolved and full services restored, although DMV expects all field offices to be up and running by Wednesday morning, October 26.
“Crews have been working all night to rebuild the system and get offices back up and running,” the DMV said. “The offices that are still down will continue providing drive tests, making return appointments, helping with paperwork, and answering customer’s questions.”
The department said online services continued even through the outage, which did not affect the department’s website.
Customers wanting to check if a local office is up and running are advised to visit the DMV website, www.dmv.ca.gov, or call (800) 777-0133.
