Construction of Temporary Bridges Along Arroyo Seco Road Has Begun

Published on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 | 5:43 pm

Pasadena Water and Power announced Wednesday that construction started this week on temporary bridges along Arroyo Seco Road in support of the coming Arroyo Seco Canyon Project.

The Project is a water resources enhancement, habitat restoration, and recreation improvement project.

The work will be completed in two phases by Water and Power’s contractor, Toby B. Hayward, Inc. Construction for the first portion of the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of January. Work will occur between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Construction will not occur on holidays.

Activities for the first phase will include asphalt removal, excavation, pile drilling and concrete placement. The construction will require partial closure of Bridge #1, but it is anticipated that passage for recreational users can still be accommodated.

However, caution is advised for those accessing the area during the construction period. Heavy vehicle and equipment passage will be restricted during the operation, and the work may generate noise — which can be a concern for equestrians.

The contractor is committed to providing traffic control and warning signs at both ends of the bridge during the operation. Arroyo Seco Road will be open to all traffic after construction hours.

For questions during construction, please contact Pasadena Water and Power Associate Engineer Michael Tse at (626) 744-7603.
