A jury has found a convicted sex offender guilty Wednesday of kidnapping and attempting to sexually assault two women in Pasadena in April 2016

Anthony Seth McDaniel, 41, of Compton, convinced the two victims to get in his truck by offering them a ride at Fair Oaks Avenue and Montana Street on April 30, 2016, according to police.

Once he trapped them, McDaniel attempted to sexual assault both victims, prosecutors said.

He was convicted of two felony counts of kidnapping to commit oral copulation, according to Deputy District Attorney Fernanda Barreto.

McDaniel, who was convicted in 2008 for assault with intent to commit rape, was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the incident.

According to court testimony, one woman injured herself after jumping out of the defendant’s vehicle while he was on the on-ramp of the 210 east freeway in Pasadena.

McDaniel pulled a gun and warned the second woman not to escape and demanded she perform sex acts on him, police said. She then grabbed the steering wheel of the truck, causing it to crash into another car on the 110 Freeway in Los Angeles. Police said McDaniel then pushed the victim from the truck.

McDaniel is believed to be taking the victims to his home in Compton, court records show.

McDaniel, who is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec.5., faces life in state prison.
