Saturday Night Live alums Molly Shannon and Will Ferrell will not return as fictional announcers “Cord and Tish” to broadcast coverage of the 2020 Rose Parade, production company Funny or Die said in a statement.

The pair, self-described as “America’s favorite hosts,” provided humorous coverage and commentary of the Rose Parade for the last two years.

Production company Funny or Die was tight-lipped about the reasons for the pair’s absence this year.

“Funny Or Die unfortunately won’t be able to do our annual Rose Parade broadcast this year. But we look forward to returning to Pasadena soon, hopefully in 2021.”

During the 2018 Rose Parade, Cord and Tish premiered their partnership for the live stream carried by Amazon Prime. It was Amazon Prime’s first-ever live broadcast of the Rose Parade.

In May, 2018, the announcer pair teamed up to cover Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding at Windsor Castle for HBO.

Ferrell’s character is portrayed as a frequent television and radio host and book author who had written over 30 books on physical and mental wellness, ranging from diet to dressing for success.

Shannon portrays Cattigan, a former Miss Arizona, who has also written books about relationships, co-dependency, marriage, and wellness.

The Rose Parade will be broadcast live throughout the U.S. and worldwide starting at 8 a.m. Pacific on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.
