Courthouse Fire Injures Fightfighter, Briefly Closes Walnut Street This Morning

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, Pasadena Fire responded to a fire alarm activation at the Los Angeles County Superior Courthouse at 300 E. Walnut St.

Arriving firefighters arrived to find smoke and heat on the third floor. A full assignment was quickly requested, ultimately upgrading to a 2nd Alarm Fire with Hazardous Materials response once they found heavy smoke on the fire floor.

Firefighters found potentially hazardous materials on the third floor of the building, associated with ongoing construction projects.

One firefighter has been evaluated for possible injuries.

A arson investigator is currently at the scene. Pasadena Police has Walnut between Los Robles Avenue and Garfield Avenue is closed until further notice.
