Real estate executive and lawyer David Damus, who’s currently CEO and Chairman of the Board of Pasadena-based System Property Development Inc., has been elected as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Parking Association (NPA) based in Washington, D.C.

The NPA, the nation’s leading parking trade group, serves as the market leader in parking industry research, education, and programs that advance the industry and its professionals. Founded in 1951, NPA has more than 2,500 members and represents all facets of the $29 billion parking industry.

The association announced the election of the new board officers Thursday, at the same time saying two current board directors have moved into officer positions.

The new board directors were elected on October 22, during the NPA’s 67th Annual Convention and Expo in Las Vegas. They will be serving two-year terms, the association said.

Damus has been CEO of System Property Development Company, Inc. since August 2010. System Property is a national real estate company, with assets in 10 cities from coast to coast. The company is the successor in interest to System Parking, Inc., and the parent of Motor Parks, LLC, which was founded in Los Angeles in 1920.

His LinkedIn profile shows Damus acquired his BA and MBA degrees from USC Marshall School of Business between 1983 and 1987. After acquiring his JD in Law and Business from Vanderbilt University, he was Vice President and General Counsel for System Property from January 1993 to August 2003.

Between December 2003 and August 2010, Damus served as CEO of the L&R Group of Companies in Los Angeles, before coming back to System Property as Chairman and CEO.

Damus continues to serve on the board of Vanderbilt University Law School, and the Board of Advisors at Campbell Hall School in Studio City, and Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks.

System Property now owns and operates a variety of properties featuring office, commercial, retail and parking facilities. Commercial tenants in the company’s properties include top tier companies such as Citibank, Delta Airlines, Anthem Insurance Company, Securitas, and Wells Fargo Bank, to name a few.

Since 1920, System Property has been a leader in the parking industry, with extensive experience in the planning, development and construction of parking facilities throughout the United States. It has also been one of the largest parking companies in America for decades as System Parking Inc.

Aside from a vast national real estate portfolio, with properties in some of the best urban markets including New York, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Seattle, Cincinnati, Houston, and Pasadena, System Property also operates parking facilities under its original name, Motor Parks.
