Pasadena Vice Mayor Councilmember John J. Kennedy was unanimously elected by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Pasadena’s Vice Mayor for another year during Monday night’s Council organizational meeting.
“For the past year it has been my honor to serve as the Vice Mayor of the City of Pasadena. Pasadena is a world-class City! I am grateful for the trust that my colleagues on the City Council have reposed in me,” Kennedy told Pasadena Now.
Kennedy was preceded in Vice Mayoral role by Councilmember Gene Masuda, who served two terms.
“It is my job to act on behalf of the Mayor and City Council when required to do so,” Kennedy said of his role. “I have happily and respectfully provided leadership as the Councilmember for District 3 and carried out my responsibilities as Vice Mayor of the “Crown City” with a focus on the entire health of the City. I plan to humbly do no less during the coming days, weeks, and months ahead!”
Kennedy was first elected to the District 3 Council seat in 2013. He ran unopposed for the seat in the 2017 election. Kennedy is also Chair of the Public Safety Committee.
