Dodgers Collapse for the Brewers at the Ravine, 6-3

It’s the mark of a great team. Or it isn’t.

When all else fails, your dependable pitching should pull you through. Zack Grienke was showing a little control problem, but nothing extraordinary. Dodger manager Don Mattingly pulled him after 99 pitches, after five scoreless innings.

The rest of the pitching lineup combined faithfully to toss the 1-0 lead away. Jamey Wright was brought in to pitch for the Doyers in the eighth. He handlily snagged a comebacker from Lucroy.

Ryan Braun, booed all night, then outran an against-the-grain throw from Gordon, arriving at first.. Aramis Ramirez singled to left. Scooter Gennett singled, bringing home Braun. After a chat show with Mattingly, Wright stayed in.

Khris Davis, 0 for 2 for the night, then singled in a run, tying the score.

Mark Reynolds was walked, and Rickie Weeks was brought in to pinch hit.

Weeks struck out, and then Lyle Overbay, pinch hitter, doubled, bringing in three runs. Reliever Carlos Frias later allowed another run in the eighth once the damage was done. Wright was charged with the loss.

The pitching ground to a halt a nice little string of Dodger victories over the Angels, the Brewers in Milwaukee and the Atlanta Braves.

Dee Gordon, however, continued to be a bright light for the Doyers, scoring the first two and stealing two bases. Yasiel Puig had three hits and drove in two runs.

The Dodger will face the Brewers in two more games, as they begin a nine-game homestand.
The Dodgers are now 17-9 in their last 26 home games.

Here’s how we opened the show:
