Dodgers Drop the Padres, 2-0

Bolsinger pitches a 1-hitter

Following a week in which the Dodgers failed to score a single run, the Blue took it out on the Padres for the second night in a row, bettering their home record to 19-5.

Newly acquired Mike Bolsinger pitched the game of his life, calmly and surgically mowing down the Padres for a 2-0 victory. He allowed just one hit in only his fourth start in the majors.

Bolsinger threw 92 pitches, 60 of them strikes. He gave up a single to Yangervis Solarte in the first at-bat, and  then there was complete radio silence after that.

The game was a quick one, with only 27 San Diego batters coming to the plate, and ending in a little over 2 hours.

Joc Pederson got the Dodgers in the sports section early, sending a 2-1 pitch into the center right bleachers in the bottom of the first for an early 1-0 lead. It was his 12th of this year.

Adrian Gonzales, honored with a Bobblehead, scored the second run in the sixth inning, as he scampered furiously home all the way from first on a double by Justin Turner.

“It kinda felt like a blur,” Bolsinger laughed after the game. I think it didnt feel real until I fell down grabbing that bunt ( in the eighth), to throw to first.”

Mattingly was quietly proud of his pitcher, saying, “We knew what he could do, he pitched well against us last year, when he was at Arizona.”

“I left him alone up there,” he said of his own coaching. “I don’t like to say anything to pitchers. He had a good rhythm. I felt good.”

The Dodgers scored six hits against the Padres, finally finding rain after a parched week.

Kanley Jansen also continued his masterful relief work, quieting the Padres 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth.

The teams return to Chavez Ravine tomorrow, and then the Dodgers head out of town.

 Here was the Preview:

We’re sold out. It’s the second game of a three-game series against the Padres. The Dodgers beat the Padres last night 2-1. Tonight it’s righthander Mike Bohlsinger against the Padres’ Ian Kennedy.
