Driver’s Leg Broken During Fight With Pasadena Police Officers

A man suffered a broken leg and two Pasadena Police officers suffered minor injuries from to a physical altercation during a traffic stop the Mobil gas station at Fair Oaks Avenue and Woodbury Road in Pasadena.

Pasadena Lt. William Grisafe said Christopher Ballew, 21, of Altadena, pulled into the Mobil station at 7:49 p.m on Thursday. The Pasadena Police had stopped him for multiple traffic violations.

According to the lieutenant, Ballew refused to comply with their orders and during a scuffle with police, he “was able to get the baton of one of the officers. A fight ensued, and he ran. They were able to get him into custody and he was arrested.”

Ballew was arrested on suspicion of assault on a peace officer. He suffered a broken leg in the skirmish and was taken to a hospital.

The two officers on the scene had minor cuts and bruises.

Ballew is currently being held at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles. His bail has been set at $50,000.
