Pasadena Fire Dept. officials evacuated seven people and closed a busy street for hours Monday as they investigated a potentially dangerous white powder mailed to a Pasadena law office.

No one was harmed in the 11:21 a.m. incident, which closed Walnut Street between Allen Avenue and Greenwood Avenue for about three hours.

Pasadena and Glendale Fire Dept. teams responded to the incident.

Ultimately the powder was deemed non-toxic. Its exact composition won’t be known until laboratory tests are completed, authorities said.

Although inconvenienced, nearby businesses seemed relieved authorities responded as they did.

“Thanks to all our First Responders for making sure we are all safe here,” RJS Auto Body shop said on social media on behalf of the area businesses. “God Bless you all.”

Walnut Street was reopened at about 2:45 p.m., authorities said.
