La Canada Presbyterian Church (LCPC)’s Parent Education Program is excited to announce the next night series of Parent Express for Parents of Tweens – Surviving Middle School (for parents of 6th through 8th graders). The class, taught by popular instructor, Paige Dunbar, will provide a month-long opportunity for parents who cannot attend our daytime classes. Longtime Parent Education participant, Jill Weinlein, stated “As a mother of three teenagers, Paige Dunbar leads her classes with tried and true experiences. Her parenting techniques provide insight and tools for parents to use along their journey of nurturing their Tweens and Teens. Paige sprinkles personal and humorous moments into each class, validating you are not alone in the struggles and joy of raising your own children.”
Parents will meet weekly with Paige and collaborate with other parents facing the same challenges in parenting their child through this crucial developmental stage. Tween classes feature large and small group discussion relating to pre-adolescent issues such as peer relationships, family communication, puberty, and school adjustments. Discussion topics will include: “Understanding the Social/Emotional Life,” “How to Effectively Maintain Boundaries,” and “Managing Technology,” to name a few. Classes will run on April 11, 18, and 25 and May 2 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at LCPC—and the rate is only $80/4-week session (which is a family rate covering both parents if they want to attend). Registration is open online: www.lacanadapc.org/parented or call (818) 790-6758 ext 205.
