Families Forward Learning Center Announces New Executive Director

Families Forward Learning Center has announced Elva Delia Sandoval as its next executive director.

Sandoval joins Families Forward Learning Center where she has been the organization’s interim executive director since March 2019. She has over fifteen years of experience in nonprofit management and community engagement where she has long focused on empowering disadvantaged children, young adults and adult communities.

“Elva’s unique experience at the intersection of nonprofit, education and civic engagement will help take Families Forward to greater heights,” said Sylvia Paz, the chairman of the board. “Her ideas and passion for continuing our Two Generation Learning philosophy and expanding Families Forward will be crucial as our organization continues to grow and innovate in the coming years.”

Sandoval has worked extensively in community outreach, including being an owner of her consulting firm, Vice President of Development for a charter school, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy, and Executive Director of Kids in Sports, both in Los Angeles California.

“I am excited to join Families Forward and to build upon the decades of work that the leadership have committed to increasing our Two Generation Learning Model to our underserved and at-risk children.” Sandoval said. “I have deep respect for the role and passion for the work that we provide. I look forward to working closely with leadership to increase Families Forward’s visibility and impact in this next chapter of the organization’s growth.”

Sandoval, was born and raised in Pasadena, California and currently resides in Altadena, California. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley, with and B.A. degree in sociology and a minor in education. In addition, Elva has a M.A. from Claremont Graduate University with a concentration in non-profit management.

Sandoval started her new position on September 1, 2019, and succeeds Hector LaFarga, Jr., who departed the organization after seven successful years to become the regional executive director of the After School All Stars. Elva Sandoval can be contacted at elva@familiesforwardlc.org.
