First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Pasadena (First A.M.E. Pasadena), welcomes Congressman Elijah Cummings on Sunday, April 17, 8:00 a.m. as its featured speaker. Congressman Cummings has dedicated his life of service to uplifting and empowering the people he is sworn to represent. He began his career of public service in the Maryland House of Delegates, where he served for sixteen years and became the first African American in Maryland history to be named Speaker Pro Tem. Since 1996, Congressman Cummings has proudly represented Maryland’s 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Congressman Cummings serves as the Ranking Member of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, the senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and he is the lead Democrat on
the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi.
Congressman Cummings often says that children are the living messages that one sends to a future that most of us will never see. In that vein, he is committed to ensuring that the next generation has access to quality healthcare and education, clean air and water, and a strong economy defined by fiscal responsibility.
