Flintridge Center is in the heat of their first annual “Fun-Raiser” for their Youth of Promise program, with a goal of raising $6,000 by March 16. Two weeks in, the campaign has already raised over $2,000.
These funds will go towards enabling the 30 youth in the program to go on all 15 planned field trips this summer and school year. The fun outings planned are college tours, bowling nights, a trip to Pacific Park in Santa Monica, go-kart racing at Speed Zone, museum visits, an Escape Room challenge, monthly community service, enrollment of 10 youth in the Girls On The Run program, and more.
The youth in the Youth of Promise program are local Pasadena and Altadena middle and high school students who face life challenges that prevent them from getting the academic and personal support that they need. The youth Flintridge Center serves may have incarcerated family members, been exposed to community violence, or live in unstable housing situations.
Through the Youth of Promise program, Flintridge Center works with these youth and provides them with a safe and nurturing environment where they get tutoring, emotional support, mentoring, and go on field trips that are both fun and educational. Flintridge Center believes in these youth, and hopes to show through this “Fun-Raiser” that the entire community does too. By donating to support experiences such as field trips and community volunteering, donors will provide opportunities that will expand youths’ worldview and help them achieve their full potential.
