Although the Pasadena City College football team is trying to recover from a tough 23-17 overtime loss to Moorpark on October 24, PCC can rejoice over the naming of two Lancers as SCFA National Northern Conference Players of the Week.

Sophomore wide receiver J. Turner Jackson received the Offensive POW for a sensational performance as he caught five passes for a staggering 202 yards, including hauling in touchdown bombs from quarterback Trevor Hampton of 65 and 86 yards. Jackson, from A.B. Miller High in Fontana, averages a team-high 149.5 all-purpose yards a game as he is the team leader in receptions, receiving yards, kick returns and punt returns.

Jackson leads the entire SCFA in receiving yards with 885 on 46 catches (a 19.2 yards per catch). His five TDs leads PCC.

Freshman kicker/punter Franklyn Cervanka was named Special Teams POW after an electrifying 48-yard field goal that tied the game with 38 seconds left. The La Canada High graduate added two extra points and punted nine times for a 37.1 yards average, including one that was downed at the Moorpark 1-yard line. He even made a tackle on one of his kickoffs.

The Lancers (2-6 overall) travel to Righetti High in Santa Maria for a conference game against Allan Hancock College on Saturday, Nov. 1. Kickoff is 4 p.m.
