Pasadena City College 2014 football sophomores Ahmad “A.J.” Springer and Sean Mardis have transfered with playing scholarships to 4-year universities. Both student-athletes played just one year for the Lancers.

Springer, a wide receiver and featured on the cover of the ’14 PCC football media guide, is continuing his education and playing career at NCAA Division II Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Missouri). Originally at Concordia University (Ann Arbor, Michigan) after attending Michigan’s Redford Union High, Springer transferred to PCC and was third on the squad in receptions. He caught 33 passes for 294 yards, rushed for 97 yards, and scored four touchdowns, two rushing and two receiving. He also briefly played quarterback and passed for a TD out of the wildcat formation.

Mardis, a fullback, has moved back to his hometown to attend Alabama State University, a Division I-FCS school. From Spain Park High in Hoover, Alabama, Mardis started seven games for PCC before an ankle injury ended his season. Primarily a blocking back and special teams defender (seven tackles), Mardis carried 20 times for 66 yards.
