Local nonprofit Foothill Unity Center is bundling up customized toys, clothing, books and gifts that were donated by the community for a heartwarming holiday giveway to more than 1,100 local children on Saturday.
The Center also plans to give the children’s families Holiday food boxes.
Saturday’s event culminates a year of collecting during the Holiday Angel Program and local drives.
More than 400 volunteers are working together to make possible a series of holiday events, including the volunteer holiday Elf committee members who have been working diligently to put the Angel gift bags together.
The events are as follows.
On Friday, more than 200 volunteers will work together to pack nearly 1,000 food boxes and bring over the Angel bags.
On Saturday, December 21, at Los Angeles County Arboretum at 301 N. Baldwin Ave. in Arcadia, the recipient families will arrive at their designated time to pick up their food boxes and gift bags.
There will also be festive activities such as family photos. The families have been pre-registered and have designated times to arrive.
Then on Monday, December 23, at both the Center’s Monrovia site and its Pasadena facility at 191 N. Oak Ave., the holiday distribution begins for families without children at 9:00 a.m. and continues through 1:00 p.m.
