All Saints Church Foster Care Project (FCP), a Pasadena ministry of All Saints Church offering direct services to local foster, homeless, transitional and incarcerated children and youth, is proud to announce Jeanette Mann, co-founder and current co-chair of FCP, appointment to the Commission for Children and Families of Los Angeles County.
“Through her work supporting foster youth in the local community and her advocacy for policies to improve safety and well-being for those throughout Los Angeles County, Dr. Mann has shown her commitment and devotion to serving the most vulnerable children and families,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Her experience and dedication will help the County achieve our goal to ensure child safety and well-being, and help support families in need.”
Dr. Mann is a strategic leader with more than 30 years of experience working with educational institutions and community-based organizations. Her many accomplishments include serving a spectrum of individuals by providing greater access to university programs and services, opening up employment opportunities and reuniting children in foster care with their families through volunteering programs and direct services. Additionally, Dr. Mann has been instrumental in in advocating for system changes in foster care.
“It is such a privilege to partner with the Commission and the Board of Supervisors in this new chapter,” said Dr. Mann. “I am honored to be appointed a role in which a stronger voice for children and youth in foster care will be heard.”
The Commission for Children and Families advises the Board of Supervisors on strengthening service delivery systems and enhancing partnerships to create safer and more secure futures for LA County’s at-risk children and their families. There are currently 35,000 children and youth in LA County that receive child welfare services from the Department of Children and families. Just over 17,000 of them live outside their homes in a foster care or group home setting.
Dr. Mann was appointed on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, and will be representing the 5th district on the Commission.
