Officers responding to a call of multiple shots fired in the 100 block of West Claremont Street at 11:33 p.m. Friday found a deceased 23-year old black man in the 70 block of nearby Pepper Street, and then within minutes located three other victims, one dead, in other parts of the city they believe to be from the same shooting.
The victim was reportedly found in the courtyard of an apartment complex, and was declared deceased by paramedics at scene.
Also at about the same time, a vehicle collision between two cars occurred at the intersection of California Blvd., and St. John Ave., in the vicinity of Huntington Memorial Hospital.
Officers responded and discovered two additional gunshot victims at the scene of the collision. The third gunshot victim, a black man, 23, was lifeless in the car suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The fourth gunshot victim, a black man who was also a passenger in this vehicle sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a local area hospital.
The other car suffered minor damage and the occupants were not injured.
Authorities’ preliminary investigation found that all victims were from the same shooting, Lt. Vasken Gourdikian told KNBC-TV.
One area resident close to the shooting reported hearing as many as 15 shots.
Pasadena Police Detectives are currently on scene handling the investigation. The motive is not known at this time and the identities of the victims are being withheld pending proper notification is given to families.
