During the week starting Monday, July 30, Caltrans will close the east-to-east I-210 connector at State Route 134 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 11 p.m. through 6 a.m. on Friday. These closures will last through the summer, Caltrans announced.

This is the latest news in the long-standing freeway repairs that are part of a three-year, 9.7-mile pavement rehabilitation project from La Crescenta to Pasadena nearing completion.

Caltrans said drivers should be very cautious when approaching the operating site of a concrete crusher on the I-710/I-210 transition from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. until late July or early August.

The crusher will replace a batch plant that’s being removed from the site.

The following closures will start Monday, July 30, and continue through Friday, August 3:

Eastbound I-210:

  • Up to four lanes from Lowell Avenue to Mountain Street, up to three lanes from the SR-134/Interstate 710 (Long Beach Freeway) connector to Lake Avenue will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Lowell Avenue, La Crescenta Avenue, Foothill Boulevard, and Marengo Avenue on-ramps will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday through Friday only

  • Connectors on southbound SR-2 and southbound I-710 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Northbound SR-2:

  • Verdugo and Foothill Blvd. off-ramps will be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday

  • SR-2 connector to eastbound I-210 will be closed Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., and from 7 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday

  • SR-2 connector to westbound I-210 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Caltrans said the project’s contractor is also scheduled to stripe eastbound and westbound I-210 between SR-2 and Dunsmore Ave. to its final alignment next week.

Work on the $148.5 million rehabilitation project began in spring 2015. Caltrans said the project would give the pavement a lifespan of 50 years after completion.
