A single-story residence in the 500 block of Pepper Street was reportedly fully involved when Pasadena Fire Dept. units arrived shortly after 8:59 p.m. Friday.

Residents had self-evacuated and none was injured, according to a Fire Dept. spokesperson.

The fire was knocked down at 9:25 p.m.

A number of residents, possibly as many as 7 or 8, were displaced and the Red Cross was contacted to provide temporary housing.

Overhaul and salvage work continued for hours. Pasadena police closed Pepper Street between Forest and Lincoln Avenues during the incident.

An investigator was reportedly called to the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
