Simba and friends sprang to life at Frostig School in a dazzling student production of The Lion King.

Lions, wildebeests, giraffes and hyenas filled the stage of Gates Hall for four performances in late April. The ambitious musical was staged and directed by Frostig School drama instructor Christina Harris, who has a gift for drawing out the best from her young performers.

The students delighted the audience with their beautiful costumes and spirited performances of “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata,” and other songs from the Disney classic.

The Lion King was the first musical held in Frostig’s newly renovated Gates Hall. Frostig recently installed a new stage, lights, curtains and carpet. The project was funded by a generous grant from The Sharon D. Lund Foundation and donations from individuals.

The musical production was made possible, in part, by donations from Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts and Edison International.

Frostig School, located at 971 N. Altadena Drive, serves children in grades 1-12 who have learning differences. For additional information, call (626) 791-1255 or visit our website at
