Gerlach’s Drive In Liquors Struck by Gun Toting Bandit

A black man in his thirties wielding a handgun robbed the landmark Gerlach’s Drive In Liquors store on South Fair Oaks Avenue at Glenarm Street around 10:44 p.m. Saturday night, police report.

Police were alerted by a citizen’s 911 call that “possibly an armed robbery was in progress” at Gerlach’s, police said.

The gunman pointed the gun at the store manager and demanded cash, which the manager handed over.

The victim was, the 54-year-old manager, a Pasadena resident, was not harmed. The robber made off with several hundred dollars, authorities said.

The suspect is describe as standing 5′ 9″, weighing about 160 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray jacket and jeans as he fled by foot.
