Pasadena Delta Foundation Inc. in collaboration with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Pasadena Alumnae Chapter, will hold its 16th Young African American Women’s Conference (YAAWC) on Saturday, April 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pasadena City College.
Themed “Face of You: Young Gifted and Black,” the 2019 YAAWC aims to empower middle and high school African American girls ages 12 to 19 in the Pasadena and surrounding communities.
The event will feature special guest speakers, workshops, a resource fair, and giveaway swag bags.
Some of the topics in the workshop include “Good Form” Fitness, Health and Wellness;
“This is Us” Self Esteem, Black Hair and Image; “What’s the Middle School Tea Sis?” Real Talk Middle School; “What’s the High School Tea Sis?” Real Talk High School; “College-ish” College Readiness; “Secure the Bag” Financial Literacy; “Hidden Figures” Women in S.T.E.A.M.; “Unseen Queen” Fitting into the World as a Young Black Woman;
“Thank you Next…” Healthy Relationships with Social Media; and “Level Up” Nonconventional careers and trades.
Also featured are Parent Workshops and an Adult Symposium.
Pasadena Delta Foundation (PDF), Inc. supports academic awards and public service programs of the Pasadena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. It was established as part of a plan for economic development designed in 1992 by the Pasadena Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and was successfully incorporated as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization.
