The true measure of a champion isn’t how they react when things are going well.

In fact, it’s all about the reaction to a setback that allows one to measure a team’s heart.

Westridge was coming off a shock, losing a 5-set match at home to surging Poly.

The Tigers, though, regrouped and defeated Prep League power, Chadwick, on the road Friday in 5 sets by scores of 21-25, 25-19, 24-26, 25-22 and 15-11.

The twin towers of Allison Martinez and Makana Meyer were double trouble with a combined 42 kills.

Martinez had 28 and Meyer 14.

Eryn Boken had 12 kills herself.

Angelica Raymundo turned in an impressive night with 61 assists.

“It was a huge team win,” Westridge coach Otto Lacayo said. “Collectively, the girls played inspired volleyball and I am very proud of them.

Westridge (11-2 overall, 4-1 in league) travels to Mayfield on Monday at 5:30.
