Hill International, the program manager on the 11.5-mile project which extended the Metro Gold Line from Pasadena to Azusa, has received two awards from the Western Council of Construction Consumers (WCCC) for this particular rail project in Southern California.

The company announced Monday the awards will be presented during WCCC’s Awards Gala on October 27 at the Lafayette Park Hotel and Spa in Lafayette.

The awards to be conferred on Hill include an Exceptional Project Achievement Award in the “Infrastructure-New” category, and a Sustainability Excellence Distinction Award for its role as the program manager on the Gold Line Foothill Extension project.

The company is also currently the program manager on the next segment, which will further the light rail line from Glendora to Montclair.

“Our Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension team has won multiple awards from industry organizations for their work on this project,” said Michael B. Smith, Senior Vice President and Western Regional Manager for Hill’s Project Management Group. “We congratulate our client and everyone on our project team for their outstanding work on this impressive project,” added Smith.

WCCC is an organization of commercial, institutional and industrial construction companies in California, Arizona and Nevada, and serves as a forum for discussing issues that affect the design and construction industry in the region.

This year, Hill International has received at least three other awards for the same Pasadena-to-Azusa rail extension project.

In April, it was recognized with a Project Achievement Award by the Southern California Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA); in May, Hill received a 2016 Transportation Award from the California Transportation Foundation (CTF); on July 15, the company received the Outstanding Rail Project of the Year Award from the Metropolitan Los Angeles Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
