Gold Line Repairs Still Underway; Expect Major Delays

Published on Friday, April 24, 2015 | 6:57 am

There will be delays on the Metro Gold Line Friday morning due to damage to the overhead power supply system that occurred late Wednesday night when wire damage caused a southbound Gold Line train to halt in South Pasadena.

Trains will share one track between Fillmore Station and Southwest Museum Station to allow repair crews to continue working.

The Gold Line will run with delays of approximately 20 to 30 minutes due to trains sharing one track in impacted area. Nearly all Gold Line trains running this morning will be longer, three-car trains, which means customers can use the entire platform when boarding.

Bus shuttles have been requested to help supplement southbound train service from Highland Park Station to Union Station. Please follow station announcements.

Some southbound trains will turn back at Fillmore Station to allow for more frequent service in Pasadena. Some northbound trains will turn back at Union Station to allow for more frequent service to East L.A. Please follow station announcements.

Plan for extra travel time this morning, or make other commute arrangements. If possible, consider taking the bus, driving and carpooling or bicycling. For those commuting from the Highland Park area, alternative bus options include Metro Bus 81 and 83. Both bus lines travel through Highland Park to Downtown L.A. Customers boarding at Lake Station to DTLA may consider Metro Express 485. Customers boarding at Sierra Madre Villa Station to DTLA may consider using the Metro Express 487.
