Listen up, golf fans. You’re going to like this one. If you’re a Pasadena regular, you may remember Eszylfie Taylor’s grand golf tournament of 2017. Where supporters raised over $40,000 for Taylor’s Future Stars Basketball Camp which is put on for the children of Pasadena each year.

Now it’s 2018, and the Future Stars Charity Golf Tournament was back in action again raising $50,000 to help support the camp. Budding golfers were invited to play an 18-hole course, and help support the youth of Pasadena by providing for this exciting camp that caters to all ages of children interested in competition, and the game of basketball.

By giving a little, the people of Pasadena helped Mr. Taylor, who also owns Taylor Insurance and Financial Services, give scholarships to young people wishing to improve their basketball talents. During his annual summer camp, children learn the fundamentals of the game as well as life skills such as teamwork.

“Sports parallel life – they teach you how to win and how to lose [and] how to hone your skills,” rightly says Eszylfie.

The golf tournament was held on Monday, May 7 at La Cañada Flintridge Country Club. Entry costs this year were $200 per player. The entrance fee included the greens fee, cart, and range balls as well as all food and a ticket to the awards banquet at the end of the day.

The tournament kicked off at 11 a.m. and finished at 4:30 p.m. Afterwards, there was an excellent cocktail reception followed by an awards ceremony, auction, and raffle.

Many were able to hone their golf skills while helping Mr. Taylor raise the funds needed to make the Future Stars Basketball Camp a continuing reality blessing Pasadena youth with a chance to learn from some of the best about life, and the game of basketball.
