Pasadena-based law firm Hahn & Hahn LLP announced Monday that Susanne Cohen has joined the firm’s Trusts & Estates and Litigation practices.

Cohen specializes in representing and protecting the interests of elders and people with disabilities, including conservatorships and trust administration, elder financial abuse, trust and estate conflict resolution and litigation, long-term care and estate planning, and special needs trusts.

“Susanne’s elder abuse and special needs trusts experience and leadership is a significant addition to our current trusts and estates practice,” said Hahn & Hahn’s Managing Partner Karl I. Swaidan. “We are fortunate to be able to provide these additional services to our clients.”

With nearly 30 years of experience specializing in aging and disability issues, Cohen is driven to advise individuals and families in creating support systems that allow their loved ones optimum independence and the ability to thrive.

“I love this area of law because disability and incapacity affects all of us. Every one of us is aging. Our lives can change in an instant and we are only a car accident or serious illness away from losing independence,” said Cohen. “Incapacity is part of being human and through law we can keep things equitable and fair for those who are unable to advocate for and protect themselves.”

Working towards elder financial abuse prevention, Cohen is a frequent author and contributor to legal publications and enjoys training and educating the legal and business communities on this area of the law. She has practiced in the Bay Area for the past 29 years.

Cohen is elated to be back in her hometown of Pasadena, advocating for clients in her own community and working with a firm that she has admired for a long time. “Thirty years ago, two highly respected partners at Hahn & Hahn encouraged me to become a lawyer. I am very happy to now be part of this comprehensive group of skilled lawyers and better able to serve my clients in the increasingly complex legal needs of the aging population,” continued Cohen.

Cohen attended the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary school in Pasadena, Saints Felicitas and Perpetua School in San Marino and San Marino High School. She attended undergraduate school at Vassar College and earned her JD at Loyola Law School of Los Angeles.
