Hahn & Hahn announced today it has promoted attorney D. Jason Lyon to Partner effective January 1.
“Since he joined us from Latham & Watkins two years ago, Jason has proven himself to be a dedicated advocate for his clients as well as for greater diversity in the firm,” said Hahn & Hahn Managing Partner Karl Swaidan. “It was Jason who advocated for the firm to be certified as a majority Women & Minority Owned Business Enterprise.”
Lyon, a commercial litigator and the firm’s first openly LGBTQ partner, says he is excited to play more of a leadership role at one of the state’s oldest law firms as it prepares for the future.
“At 120 years old, Hahn & Hahn is practically an institution in this community,” said Lyon. “So I was very pleasantly surprised to discover when I joined the firm how forward-thinking and open to new ideas the partners are. I’m honored to help further our tradition of innovation in response to the changing needs of our clients and our community.”
Lyon, who obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, began his legal practice in complex commercial litigation, including international arbitration and securities fraud class action defense. His work now emphasizes business disputes, pre-litigation risk mitigation and strategy consulting, and high stakes trust contests.
Before becoming an attorney, Lyon was a producer of documentaries, including the 1999 feature release, Five Wives, Three Secretaries, and Me.
Lyon is an active member of the Pasadena community. He currently serves as President of the Board of Young & Healthy, a Pasadena nonprofit that provides no-cost access to healthcare for uninsured and underserved children in our community.
In addition, Lyon is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership and serves on the City of Pasadena’s Historic Preservation Commission. He was previously the Senior Warden of All Saints Pasadena in 2016 and 2017.
Lyon lives in Pasadena with his husband, realtor Tim Hartley, and their two sons.
Founded in 1899, Hahn & Hahn LLP is among the state’s oldest law firms and is one of the largest general practice firms in L.A.’s San Gabriel Valley. Its practices include Litigation, Business, Employment, Family Law, Trust & Estates, Trust Litigation, Real Estate and Land Use/ Environmental.
