The South Pasadena Senior Center and the Library will be available as cooling centers for the next five days. During extreme heat both facilities are open to the public with air-conditioning, cold water. The Senior Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Monday through Friday), and the South Pasadena Public Library, Mon-Weds: 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Thurs. – Fri. 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Sat. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sun. 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The forecast is as follows: Thursday 96, Friday 98, Saturday 100 Sunday 100 and Monday 99 degrees. The public is encouraged, especially the children, the elderly, and their pets to avoid the sun; reduce physical activity; and drink plenty of fluids. Symptoms of dehydration and heat cramps include dizziness, fatigue, faintness, headaches, muscle cramps and increased thirst.
