Hillsides, a Pasadena-headquartered charity benefiting children in the foster care system, raised almost $3,000 for the youth who live at the agency’s teen group homes at its annual H100 Farm to Table Dinner held Sunday, June 28, at a private estate in Pasadena. More than 100 guests enjoyed an outdoor evening filled with innovative local and farm-fresh cocktails and fare while supporting Hillsides.

During the evening, guests fulfilled summertime wishes of the teens, such as outings to restaurants and amusement parks, games, and art supplies. One highlight of the event was when a former group home resident, Jordan Romero, spoke. The articulate 17-year-old thanked the guests for their support of the homes and said that due to the counseling and support she received at Hillsides, she learned how to master her feelings and to feel in control of her life. Today she is a high-achieving junior in high school who one day hopes to become a writer and director.

The event was hosted by H100, a philanthropic support group of Hillsides aimed at young professionals. Sponsors of the dinner included Annie Brose and Chris Anzalone, Emilie and Rob Hoyt, April Danz and Kelly Johnson, Kristin and Keith Thorell, Ava and Ed Herrera, Bryce and Stacy Canfield, Brent and Leah Mason, John and Laura Babcock, Debbe and Spike Booth, Don and Sally Clark, Nadine and Anthony Danz, Tasia and Jim Fillippatos, John Gong, and Andrew and Harper McDonald.

H100 is one of three volunteer support groups of Hillsides. Hillsides is a premier provider dedicated to improving the overall well-being and functioning of vulnerable children, youth, and families. One of its four core programs is providing residential treatment to children who are either unable to live at home, have suffered trauma, or experience emotional or behavioral challenges. Hillsides serves more than 8,900 children and families in 19 sites in Los Angeles County, including Pomona, Baldwin Park, Echo Park, and South Pasadena.
